Opinel No. 09 "Tradition Carbon" Folding Knife
The Opinel No. 09 knife offers excellent cutting quality thanks to its carbon steel blade. Smaller Opinel models are very useful for sewing, sculpting, model making, or as a paper knife.
This No. 9 is the ideal companion for all your outdoor activities.
The traditional Opinel blade is called a Yatagan blade (after Turkish swords) with its upturned point, which guarantees great strength.
XC90 Carbon Steel Blade: This is a non-alloy steel with a high carbon content. After heat treatment, it achieves excellent hardness, ensuring a perfect edge retention, high wear resistance, and easy resharpening.
Beechwood handle, sourced from French forests because it is hard and durable. The handle is varnished to prevent soiling and for better protection against moisture. Safety opening: Virobloc
Important: Carbon steel blades are very susceptible to corrosion. They must be dried after each use and oiled regularly.
Blade: 9 cm
Handle: 12 cm
Weight: 55 g
*The Virobloc safety ring, invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, is featured on all folding knives from size No. 6 and up.
The Virobloc is made of stainless steel and consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part.
In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety during use), it is also possible to lock the blade in the closed position for safe transport.
