Charles Canon boxes

Charles Canon, the French cutler from the Haut-de-France region.

The founders are Pascal Charles and Aurélien Canon, both keen cutlery enthusiasts, and in 2018 they took over the Dutilleul company, which has nothing to do with cutlery but specialises in the manufacture of electrical sockets. They specialise in precision wood machining and why not create a regional knife that would symbolise Hauts-de-France.

Charles Canon was born, now it's time to put the region on the map, and who better to do that than them. The emblematic material of Northern France was coal, which supported so many families. They set up their workshop on an old slag heap (an artificial hill built by the accumulation of mine tailings). The handles are all original, the materials are local: coal, oyster shells from Oléron, bouchot mussels, granite from Mont Blanc, sandstone from the Vosges, lavender from Provence...
All that remained was to make the blades, but without knowledge this is impossible. The two partners went to train at their customer Laguiole in Aubrac.
In 2020, sales took off and they quickly expanded their range to include other regional materials.

Charles Canon now has 16 employees, and the adventure continues as the company looks to expand both in France and internationally.
