In 1963, Juan Antonio Iregui moved to Galicia from the Basque Country to continue a long family tradition of knifemaking and create his own brand.

It was in the 1960s that the use of stainless steel burst onto the cutlery scene. And it wasn't long before JAY began to gradually introduce this material into its production. By the early 1990s, JAY had established itself as the leading Spanish manufacturer and distributor of cutlery and had begun to expand internationally.

Over the last 50 years, JAY has always focused on listening to the demands of the market, the needs of its customers and keeping abreast of the latest trends at all times, managing to establish itself as Spain's largest producer with more than 3,000 customers.
