Multifunction pliers, knives and leatherman tools

                    LEATHERMAN " The American Swiss Army Knife"                                                                                                                                                Tim Leatherman, a young mechanics graduate, travels all over Europe with an old FIAT but not very reliable mechanically, thanks to his Swiss Army knife he was able to limit the breakage and get out of it.
                 An idea crossed his mind, and why not combine a pair of pliers with a multifunction knife that can be easily transported.   
            He perfected his concept for a few years but no American cutler would take any interest in his idea and never sell his patent.
            So in 1983 he founded the Leatherman Tool Group at his home in Portland, Oregon, and for about 30 years he offered a single product for PST.

Over the years his company has prospered by always creating innovative new products such as multi-purpose scissors, pliers, pruning shears. This idea was taken up by SOG or GERBER who remain the references with Leatherman.
