Opinel No. 06 "Tradition LX" Walnut Knife
Opinel pocket knife suitable for smaller hands
The traditional Opinel blade is called a Yatagan blade (after Turkish sabers) with its upturned point, which guarantees great robustness.
Martensitic stainless steel blade: a steel from Europe with a hardness of 55-57 HRC.
The blade offers an excellent cutting edge and high resistance to abrasion (wear), allowing it to withstand regular contact with hard materials, such as ceramics, before needing resharpening. Stainless steel has the advantage of requiring no special maintenance under normal use, unlike carbon steel.
Walnut handle, a wood sourced from French forests, brown with sometimes yellow or gray undertones. The handle is varnished to prevent soiling and for better protection against moisture.
Virobloc stainless steel safety ring.
Important: Carbon steel blades are very susceptible to corrosion. They must be dried after each use and oiled regularly.
Blade: 7 cm
Handle: 9.3 cm
Weight: 50 g
*The Virobloc safety ring, invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, is fitted to all closing knives from N°06 onwards.
The Virobloc is cut out of stainless steel and is made up of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part.
In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety in use), it is also possible to lock the blade in the closed position for transport safety.
