Opinel No. 10 VRI "Tradition Carbon" Knife
The French knife, the No. 10 carbon steel model, originated in Joseph Opinel's workshop in the 1890s. Perfect for all types of use, both indoors and outdoors.
The traditional Opinel blade is called a Yatagan blade (after Turkish sabers) with its upturned point, which guarantees great robustness.
XC90 Carbon Steel Blade: This is a non-alloy steel with a high carbon content. After heat treatment, it achieves excellent hardness, ensuring a perfect edge retention, high wear resistance, and easy resharpening.
Blade opens with a thumbnail.
Handle made of beechwood, a wood sourced from French forests because it is hard and durable. The handle is varnished to prevent soiling and for better protection against moisture.
Stainless steel Virobloc safety ring.
Important: Carbon steel blades are very susceptible to corrosion. They must be dried after each use and oiled regularly.
Blade: 10 cm
Handle: 13 cm
Weight: 40 g
*The Virobloc safety ring, invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, is fitted to all closing knives from N°06 onwards.
The Virobloc is cut out of stainless steel and is made up of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part.
In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety in use), it is also possible to lock the blade in the closed position for transport safety.
