Fontenille Pataud is one of a group of cutlers from the Thiers area who have come together to perpetuate their mastery and expertise through a knife bearing the name of their town:
Thiers, the capital of French cutlery for over 6 centuries, and who have built the reputation of French knives by respecting the 3 key ideas: Territoriality, Quality, Morality.
The ‘Guillochée’ range is superior: in addition to the classic finish, the plates and the back of the blade are chiselled.
The ‘Le Pocket’ range is a Laguiole knife that is neither too small nor too large, with a balanced weight so that it fits incognito in your pocket. It is the big brother of the Laguiole ‘Nature’ knife, and its use is the same thanks to its locking blade. Flexible blade opening and closing mechanism. The blade can be slammed shut as the cutting edge is protected by a fixed stop.

A matt blade with notch (at the end of the handle) in 14C28N steel (hardness 58-59 HRC), matt bolster, back of the blade, plates and inside of the guilloche spring.
The blade stop guarantees a very long-lasting cutting edge as, unlike ordinary Laguiole knives, it does not strike the bottom of the knife when closed.

Stabilised standing beech handle, 5 mm thick, with traditional shepherd's cross inlay. Forged spring and bee, Back Lock system.
Wood stabilisation is a technique that consists of impregnating a material with resin under vacuum, resulting in a Laguiole knife with exceptional polish and finish.
