Au Sabot folding knife "LE BASQUE"
Known as the Basque Yatagan, this traditional knife from the Basque country but more widely from the great South-West was used to cut tobacco leaves in the Bergerac region. The term Yatagan finds its origin in the Turkish word "yatağan", which designates a type of curved saber used by soldiers of the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.
Traditional Basque knife with the insertion of a small medallion in the shape of a Basque cross, called lauburu in the Basque language. This small cross formed by 4 commas is a strong identity symbol of this region on the Atlantic coast.
Excellent cutting edge but requires specific maintenance (a drop of oil in the closed position at the axis. clean the inside of the knife. For wooden handles, never put in the dishwasher, store in a dry place at room temperature). Plexi or cellulose acetate handles are less sensitive to humidity and water. You can clean your entire knife with a damp cloth then wipe it with a dry cloth.
An EDC knife with a forced notch, stainless steel bolster.
Drop Point blade in 12C27 stainless steel with a notch opening on the blade.
Olive wood handle with its Basque cross medallion.
Made in France by the cutlery "Au Sabot" in Thiers.
