Windmühlenmesser Mini-Yatagan Knife with Cherry Wood Handle

The mini-yatagan, featuring a curved blade, draws inspiration from traditional Turkish sabers and is highly effective for handling fruits and vegetables. It is a knife designed for precision work.

The blade is forged from chromium-molybdenum-vanadium stainless steel (1.4116 steel) with a hardness of 56–57 HRC. This stainless alloy withstands contact with meat juices, blood, and cooking sauces without oxidizing.
It features a drop-point blade with a fine polish; the "yatagan" style is characterized by a curved cutting edge and a straight spine, making it an excellent choice for peeling round fruits and onions.

Blue Polishing: The blue finish raditionally called *Blaupließten* in German represents the pinnacle of Solingen’s artisanal craftsmanship. It is an extremely complex and rare blade-finishing technique that the Robert Herder manufactory is one of the last in the world to master and teach.

After the initial grinding stage (which leaves micro-scratches on the steel), the blade passes into the hands of a master polisher (*Blaupließer*). The blade is pressed manually against large rotating wooden wheels covered in buffalo leather or felt. The artisan uses ultra-fine abrasive pastes (historically Naxos emery powder). The steel is polished in successive stages until the surface becomes mirror-smooth. When light strikes this microscopically uniform surface, diffraction creates a distinctive bluish, rainbow-like sheen.

Cherry wood handle: a local wood with reddish-brown hues, a silky feel, and excellent durability for daily use.
This paring knife is a featherweight in the hand, making it exceptionally agile and responsive.
