Windmühlenmesser Ibex 120 Knife – POM Handle
The Windmühlenmesser IBEX 120 is the extra-large (XL) model in the outdoor range from the German manufacturer Robert Herder. Its blade profile is inspired by a historical design originally created for the Hadhramaut region of southern Arabia. The traditional yet significantly improved locking mechanism holds the blade firmly in place, whether open or closed.
It features a smooth, stonewashed stainless steel blade (Cr7MoV, 56-57 HRC hardness) with a sheep's foot profile. A lock-back mechanism secures the blade in the open position, and it can also be opened using a thumb stud.
The IBEX blade boasts a stable geometry thanks to its convex grind. It starts with a thickness of 2.5 mm; following the grinding and polishing (finishing) process, the spine tapers while the edge receives its final sharpening, optimized for exceptional durability and cutting performance.
The handle is made of black POM, an ultra-dense, high-end synthetic polymer. It is completely impervious to water, acids, and impacts, and requires no maintenance unlike wood handles.
To close the knife, pull the small metal ring on the back; this releases the blade in stages, allowing it to close gently without snapping shut on your fingers.
