Windmühlenmesser Ibex 120 Series Knife – Stainless Steel and Olive Wood
The Windmühlenmesser IBEX 120 is the extra-large (XL) model in the outdoor range from the German manufacturer Robert Herder. Its blade profile is inspired by a historical design originally created for the Hadhramaut region of southern Arabia. The locking mechanism traditional yet significantly improved holds the blade firmly in place whether open or closed.
Features a smooth, bright blade made of X50CrMoV15 (also known as 1.4116) stainless steel two different designations for the same material with a hardness of approximately 57 HRC. This steel is rust-resistant and easy to maintain. The blade features a "sheep's foot" profile and a lock-back mechanism that secures the blade in the open position; it can also be opened using a thumb stud.
The IBEX blade boasts a stable geometry thanks to its convex grind. It starts with a thickness of 2.5 mm; following grinding and polishing, the blade spine tapers, and the edge receives its final sharpening, optimized for exceptional durability and cutting performance.
Olive wood handle a premium wood prized for its light grain and high density.
To close the knife, pull the small metal ring on the back; this releases the lock in stages, allowing the blade to close gently without snapping shut on your fingers.
