KA-BAR U.S.M.C black blade 17,8 cm and black handle
It is important to know that the American army had some problems with its combat knives at the beginning of the Second World War because they were inappropriate or most often absent from the fighting. Thus Ka-Bar was one of the brands created by the Union Cultery Company in the 1920s and was adopted in 1942 by the USMC (United States Marine Corps) as a combat knife or simply a combat utility knife.
Some of the senior officers worked with the manufacturer and made several important changes: a longer, stronger blade, a shot-peened pommel, a straight steel bodyguard and a leather handle coated for optimum grip.
A few months later it was adopted by the US Navy, the Marine Corps. The glowing report of the combatants on their return from war about this knife dispelled any doubts about its effectiveness in combat and today it is still used by the various corps of the American army.
Here is the knife nicknamed in 1942 the USMC because all the marines had with them the famous Ka-Ba1211.
Nowadays, many American soldiers still carry it because it is still strong, big, efficient and robust even in wet weather
Its blade is made of 1095 carbon steel, Clip Point type, with a black coating because it fears corrosion.
Kraton handle (weather resistant).
Safety opening: fixed with double guard
