KA-BAR U.S.M.C 1250 blade 13,3 cm
It is important to know that the American army experienced some setbacks with its combat knives at the beginning of the Second World War because they were inappropriate or most often absent from combat. Thus Ka-Bar was one of the brands created by the Union Cultery Company in the 1920s and was adopted in 1942 by the USMC (United States Marine Corps) as a combat knife or simply a combat utility.
Some senior officers worked with the manufacturer and made several important changes: a longer, stronger blade, a shot-blasted pommel, a straight steel guard and a threaded leather handle for optimal grip.
A few months later it was adopted by the US Navy, the Marine Corps. The commendation report from combatants returning from the war on this knife dispelled doubts about its combat effectiveness and today it is still used by the various corps of the US Army.
Here is the smaller model of the legendary 1217, the closest to the famous MKII successor of the MarkI (trench knife from the First World War).
Its 1095 carbon steel blade is covered with a black coating because it fears corrosion.
